PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Aaron Brock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Beattie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brock comes to the cage accompanied by Balls Deep. On his way into the cage it seems that Aaron Brock has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Aaron Brock seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jason Beattie!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Sergei Dronov and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Brock looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Beattie!
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Beattie is in all sorts of trouble here.
Beattie wants to control but Brock is having none of it.
Brock wants to control the pace but Beattie is squirming around nicely.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Beattie can do anything to dispel that myth.

Beattie has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Brock is working away from the top position though.

Brock moves in looking to clinch but Beattie pushes him off.

Brock tries to close the distance and clinch but Beattie swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Aaron Brock seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Brock gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Brock throws a wild body kick that Beattie sees coming a mile off.
Beattie gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Brock lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Brock throws a push kick but Beattie slaps the foot to one side.

Beattie fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Brock sprawls well initially but Beattie persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Beattie stalling away here and it's allowed Brock to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Brock manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Beattie chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Brock can pounce on him.

Beattie is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Brock's half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Beattie looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Brock with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Beattie wants to take a breather but Brock is having none of it.

Beattie is nestled in close to Brock, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Beattie wants to lay and pray for a moment but Brock keeps working.

Beattie has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Brock takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Jason Beattie showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Beattie tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Brock manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Brock lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Beattie will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Brock scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

Beattie changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Brock looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Beattie tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Beattie has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Brock throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Beattie stalks Brock and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Brock's face. Brock staggers backwards, shaken.
Brock connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Brock avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Jason Beattie is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Beattie shoots in but Brock avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Beattie has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Brock finds it's way round the side to connect with Beattie's head.
Brock connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Beattie tries to score a power double leg takedown but Brock sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Beattie somewhat.
Aaron Brock has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jason Beattie.

Jason Beattie is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Oh Brock is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Beattie wants to finish this one by submission but Brock is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Beattie.

Beattie lands a big shot to the head and Brock winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!

Jason Beattie was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
