The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kulmala pushes Pekkanen up against the cage in a clinch.

Kulmala pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Pekkanen has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Kulmala finds it's way round the side to connect with Pekkanen's head.
Kulmala lands with a hook. Pekkanen tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Kulmala decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Pekkanen has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kulmala is working away from the top position though.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Kulmala wants to stand up but Pekkanen has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Pekkanen is not content to let Kulmala control the position.
Pekkanen slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kulmala wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Pekkanen's closed guard. He's half up but Pekkanen has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Pekkanen pivots and extends the arm, Kulmala falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Pekkanen! Well done that man!
