Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Michael Hill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Colton Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Michael Hill!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Colton Smith!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smith darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Smith with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Hill wants to control but Smith is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hill looks like he's trying to stand up.
Hill is trying to control but can't.
Smith sitting and controlling from the half guard.

Michael Hill has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Smith takes a head kick and keeps coming.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Smith clinches.
Smith landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Hill has had enough of the clinch but Smith keeps him there for the moment.
Hill tries to break free but Smith pushes him back against the cage.

Hill pulls Smith into guard.
Hill lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Smith!
Smith wants to control but Hill is having none of it.
Hill tries to control but Smith wriggling away.
Smith wants to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Smith is looking to get to half guard.
Smith really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hill. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Smith manages to control the position for a moment.
Hill tries to control but Smith wriggling away.
Smith is working to get back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Smith holds on, trying desperately to control.
Smith manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Smith manages to get to full guard.
Smith is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Hill is controlling him.
Smith controlling the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Smith closes the distance and clinches.
Hill tries to break free but Smith pushes him back against the cage.
Hill has had enough of the clinch but Smith keeps him there for the moment.

Smith decides to pull guard.
Hill has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Smith is proving hard to escape from.
Smith wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Smith has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hill can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Smith looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Colton Smith dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Hill tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Smith manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Hill shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Smith counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Hill!
Smith avoids the attempt from Hill to control.
Smith scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Hill?
Smith controlling from the full mount.
Smith's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Hill is bucking up trying to escape but Smith cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Hill is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Smith landing strikes from the mount.

Smith looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Smith content just to control the position here.
Smith is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Hill can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Smith takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Smith lands a big shot there that rocks Hill but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Smith content just to control the position here.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Smith lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Hill tries to lock up and control but Smith gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Smith is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Hill closes the distance but Smith moves to the side

and Smith counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Hill's guard now.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Smith is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Smith drops back, looking for a kneebar! Hill looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Hill looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Hill!
Hill wants to control for a moment but Smith uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Hill throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hill tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Smith.
Hill throwing shots but Smith is blocking nicely.
Hill wants to lay and pray for a moment but Smith keeps working.
Smith wants to improve his position but Hill is controlling well.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Smith controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Smith flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Colton Smith showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Smith fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Hill to the ground. Smith is now in Hill's guard.
Hill controls Smith momentarily but Smith frees himself.
Smith pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hill is keeping the position for now.
Smith lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Smith stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Smith manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Hill on his heels. He'll look to pass Hill's guard now, I'm sure.
Hill wants to sweep here but Smith controlling him for the moment.
Smith not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Hill is looking to stand up but Smith isn't so interested in that idea.
Smith advances to half guard.
Smith slows the pace down in half guard.

Smith stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Smith is trying to pull guard but Hill turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Hill tries for a takedown. No joy.
Smith prevents the takedown attempt.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Smith escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Smith feints and as Hill raises his hands in defense, Smith changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Smith passes into half guard.
Smith content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Smith stands up out of the half guard.

Smith drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Smith slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Hill trying to keep a closed guard but Smith is proving a slippery customer.

Smith gets to his feet - Hill follows without any prompting.
Smith misses with a wild combination.

Smith gets the takedown into side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hill is trying to control Smith's posture but Smith avoids it.

Smith tries for a kimura but Hill is defending well.

Michael Hill has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Colton Smith is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Well Smith has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
