The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cascara gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Davies tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Cascara trying to control the position but instead, Davies has worked for underhooks and has pushed Cascara into the cage.
A head punch on the inside from Davies fails to land.
A short uppercut from Cascara.
Cascara tries to break the clinch but Davies is controlling the position.
Davies throws a punch but it's blocked by Cascara.

Davies breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Cascara moves into range and clinches up with Davies.
Davies blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Cascara keeps control of Davies as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Davies goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Davies misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Cascara.

Davies swings wildly with an uppercut but Cascara uses good head movement to avoid it.
Cascara throws an elbow but it's blocked.

Cascara escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Davies blocks the body kick.
Cascara avoids the head kick by Davies.
Cascara dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Davies keeps Cascara at a distance using the push kick.

Davies stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Davies wants it to stay on the feet.
Davies throws a sloppy head kick and Cascara moves out of range easily.

Davies gets a clinch.

Cascara has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Davies regains guard immediately.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Cascara drops back, looking for a kneebar! Davies looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Davies looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Davies!
Davies is looking to take a break and control but Cascara is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Cascara regains half guard there - taking advantage of Davies's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Davies working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

A close round but Lionel Cascara will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Cascara throws a nice outside leg kick.
Davies takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Cascara looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Davies is not content to let Cascara control the position.
Cascara uses his free foot to push down on Davies's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Davies.

Cascara can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Davies is looking to escape.

Cascara postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Davies looks a forlorn figure.
Davies is in all sorts of trouble here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Cascara has control of Davies's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Davies regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Lionel Cascara showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Cascara cracks Davies with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Davies ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Cascara connects with a body shot that sends Davies's belly button to the back.
Davies misses with a low kick.
Cascara checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.

Cascara has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Cascara tries to score with some ground and pound. Davies controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cascara remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
