PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Clay Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Bellator (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bellator is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by A Lesson Never Learned. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Clay Thomas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frank Bellator!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Eddie Farnsworth and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bellator shoots in but no luck this time.
Bellator scores with a punch to the head.

Bellator darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Thomas is trying to control but Bellator passes into side control!
Thomas tries to improve position but can't.
Bellator cracks Thomas with a big elbow.

Bellator tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Clay Thomas just wasn't active enough.
Thomas shoots for a double leg takedown but Bellator sprawls well. He's pushed Thomas's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Bellator slips a jab and a cross from Thomas.
Thomas shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Bellator eats them both and turns towards Thomas to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.


It looks like Frank Bellator has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Thomas tries to work over Bellator's front leg with a kick but Bellator checks it.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Bellator lands a nice shot that snaps Thomas's head back.
Thomas uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
A looping hook to the body misses from Bellator. Thomas does a little dance to reset his feet.
Bellator throws a hook but Thomas blocks it.

Thomas doesn't manage to clinch there - Bellator circles away.

Bellator pivots, looking for a leg kick but Thomas is out of range and Bellator settles back down.
Thomas takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Bellator tries to score a power double leg takedown but Thomas sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Bellator somewhat.

Bellator shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Thomas as he avoids it easily.
Bellator dives in and grabs Thomas's left leg, looking for a takedown. Thomas pushes down on Bellator's head and hops out.
Clay Thomas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Bellator.
Bellator throws a looping overhand right but Thomas ducks down to avoid it.

Bellator shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Thomas's guard.

Thomas is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Thomas feints a jab promting Bellator to slip. Thomas then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Bellator slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Bellator drops his hands momentarily and Thomas takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

That was a close second round but I would say that Clay Thomas will probably get the nod.

and Bellator makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Bellator swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Thomas.

Thomas tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Bellator paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Thomas gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Thomas wants to hit a switch here but Bellator passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Thomas there!

Thomas is bucking up trying to escape but Bellator cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Bellator postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Thomas in real trouble here! The ref calls for Thomas to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
