Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tod Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Borg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Borg told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Evans tries to close the distance and clinch but Borg swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and Borg cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
A solid leg kick lands there for Borg.
Evans swinging wildly here.
Borg stuffs the takedown attempt from Evans. Evans gets slowly back to his feet.

Evans tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Borg manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

Evans closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Evans lands in his opponent's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Evans slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
John Borg is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Borg really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Evans. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Borg is looking to sweep but instead, Evans has passed into half guard.
Tod Evans has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Borg has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Evans is working away from the top position though.
