Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dean Lister (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Stolen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dean Lister!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ryan Stolen!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Robert Twigg and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lister shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Stolen's guard.
Stolen should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Lister stands up and waves to Stolen to follow him.

Lister darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Lister is controlling the pace.
Lister missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Still in half guard, Lister seems content to control.

Stolen actively working from the bottom here.

Lister is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Stolen doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Lister.
Lister is controlling the pace.
Lister tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

Lister wants to control but Stolen is keeping him busy.
Stolen wants to improve his position but Lister is controlling well.
Lister takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Lister is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Dean Lister just wasn't active enough.
Stolen shoots for a double leg takedown but Lister sprawls well. He's pushed Stolen's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Stolen tries to keep at a distance but Lister has taken the fight into the clinch.

Lister jumps into guard, dragging Stolen to the mat.

Stolen with a flurry of punches that miss.
Stolen tries to free his leg and advance position but Lister is retaining full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lister has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Stolen is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Lister.
Lister controls the position for a moment.
Lister manages to work his way to half guard, despite Stolen's best efforts.
Lister blocking the ground and pound attempt from Stolen.

Stolen is pressing down on Lister's thigh, looking to free his foot. Lister is holding on for now.
Lister is looking to control Stolen's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Lister avoid being mounted?

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Stolen is trying to work for a kimura but Lister is defending well.

Lister pushes Stolen off and gets back to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Horrible takedown by Lister or perhaps it was just good defense by Stolen which made him look bad.

Lister closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Stolen did well to prevent Lister getting side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dean Lister dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Lister moves in looking to clinch but Stolen pushes him off.
Lister tries to land a front kick but Stolen steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Stolen circles away from the clinch attempt.
Lister lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Stolen circles away quickly and effectively.
Stolen avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Stolen will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Stolen gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Lister gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Lister fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Stolen has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Stolen defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Lister.

Stolen avoids the head kick by Lister.
Lister fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Lister shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Stolen sprawls well. Stolen wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Lister gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dean Lister. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A looping hook to the body misses from Stolen. Lister does a little dance to reset his feet.

Stolen shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lister as he avoids it easily.

The fight stays on the outside here - Lister looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Lister shoots in for a double leg but Stolen sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Lister clinches up against the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Lister jumps guard but Stolen stands there with Lister around his waist. Lister gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Lister wants to take the fight to the mat but Stolen manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Lister escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Lister tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Lister fails in his attempt to clinch.
Lister tries to close the distance and clinch but Stolen swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Stolen is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Lister's half guard.

Lister has hold of Stolen's hands but Stolen slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Stolen throwing shots but Lister is blocking nicely.
Stolen thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Lister's head.

Lister avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Stolen.
Stolen working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Stolen is looking to advance position but Lister won't allow it.
Stolen throwing shots but Lister is blocking nicely.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Stolen takes a swing at Lister's ribcage but misses.
Stolen tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Lister swivels and escapes.
Lister lands with a nice combination. Stolen backs away looking to recover.
Dean Lister is winning the standup battle so far.

Lister shoots in and bounces Stolen off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Dean Lister overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Stolen looking for a sweep. Not yet Stolen, not yet.
Lister trying to control but Stolen is working from the bottom.
Lister controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Lister shoots in for a takedown but Stolen shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Stolen fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Lister avoids it really well and circles away.
Stolen stuffs the takedown attempt from Lister. Lister gets slowly back to his feet.

Stolen drops back looking for a leg! Lister is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lister manages to kick Stolen off! Stolen jumps back into Lister's guard.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Dean Lister.
Well Lister has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
