PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chris Haggen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ari Harry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Haggen comes into the arena with Don't You Worry Child blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Chris Haggen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Ari Harry!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Colin Fotheringham and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harry misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Haggen lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Harry checks a leg kick.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Haggen jumps guard and drags Harry to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Harry trying to control but Haggen is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Haggen is trying to keep Harry in close.
Harry wants to control from the top but Haggen keeps moving.
Harry sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Haggen keeping moving, preventing Harry from controlling successfully.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Ari Harry has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Harry moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Harry lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Harry punishes Haggen's body with a nice straight punch.
Harry closes the distance but Haggen moves to the side

and Haggen counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Harry drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Haggen lands a right hand that snaps the head of Harry backwards.
Harry is trying to drag Haggen to the mat but Haggen just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Haggen has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Harry clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Harry wants to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Harry turns into Haggen and is now in his guard.
Harry trying to control but Haggen is working from the bottom.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Haggen holds on and takes a little breather.
Haggen looking to control.
Harry prevents Haggen from getting back to his feet.
Harry forces his way into half guard.
Harry scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Haggen is staying active underneath Harry, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Harry throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Haggen to regain full guard.
Harry working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Haggen working a defensive guard but Harry passes into half guard.
Haggen on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Haggen tries to get out of the position.
Harry is looking to take a break and control but Haggen is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Haggen wants to control but Harry passes into side.

Harry is working to tighten is grip on Haggen's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Haggen has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Harry is really squeezing tight and eventually Haggen passes out! Harry breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Ari Harry!
