Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nick Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Henrik Hendriks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hendriks has chosen Toulouse as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Alves has taken the fight to the clinch.
Alves misses with a knee strike.

Hendriks has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Alves uses from the top position.
Hendriks wants to sweep here but Alves controlling him for the moment.
Alves stays in close to Hendriks's body and controls the position.

Alves's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Hendriks gets caught napping as Alves dives in and scores a takedown. Hendriks manages to retain guard.

Alves thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Hendriks doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hendriks is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Alves is aware though and is defending well.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Alves wants to control from the top but Hendriks keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Alves shoots in and gets a takedown into Hendriks's guard.
Alves forces his way into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hendriks is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Alves looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Hendriks with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Hendriks has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Alves escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Alves!

Hendriks is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Alves's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Hendriks is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Alves pulls his head out easily.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Hendriks wants to clinch up but Alves keeps it at a distance.

Alves shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Hendriks has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Alves. Oh but Hendriks has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Alves goes limp - he's gone! Hendriks jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!

A less than humble Henrik Hendriks misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
