The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karwoski slips a jab and a cross from Pires.
Pires takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
A nice inside leg kick there by Karwoski. That's going to slow Pires down.

Karwoski closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Pires is looking for a takedown.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Karwoski is stalling here.
Karwoski tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Pires avoids it.
Karwoski keeps control of Pires as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Karwoski.

It looks like Leonard Pires has been cut.
Karwoski is pushing Pires up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Karwoski lands an elbow that stopped Pires in his tracks for a moment.
Karwoski lands a body shot in the clinch.
Pires is breathing heavily.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Karwoski takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Karwoski escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Karwoski lands a jab to Pires's midsection.
Pires needs to keep his hands up - Karwoski had a free shot at his head there.
Karwoski fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Karwoski drops Pires with a huge uppercut! Pires drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes. Karwoski is raining down punches and the ref stops the fight! This one is all over!

Kirk Karwoski spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
