Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matt Bera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stevie Hinch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bera comes to the cage accompanied by Parasite :D . Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Matt Bera!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Stevie Hinch!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Winston Howard and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bera will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Bera tries to bum rush Hinch with a series of wild strikes but Hinch uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Sloppy strikes from Bera. Those never looked like landing.

Bera tries to sprawl but Hinch drives through with a takedown into half guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Hinch working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Bera's thigh. Bera counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Hinch working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Hinch trying to control the position from guard on top but Bera is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Bera avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Bera keeping moving, preventing Hinch from controlling successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bera wants to stand up but Hinch is controlling him.

Bera working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Hinch.
Hinch has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Hinch is looking to work some ground and pound but Bera has wrist control.
Hinch postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Hinch drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Bera manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hinch has Bera in his guard.
Bera is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Hinch is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Bera defends well.
Hinch is trying to keep Bera in close.
Bera wants to pass the guard but Hinch is keeping the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bera is working hard here to advance position.

Hinch throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Hinch wants to sweep but no luck.

Bera drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Bera jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Hinch isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Bera stacks Hinch on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Bera!
Hinch tries to buck Bera off but Bera is having none of it.
Hinch is trying to control Bera's posture but Bera avoids it.
Hinch is not content to let Bera control the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hinch is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stevie Hinch dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Bera takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Bera misses with a two punch combination.
Bera misses with the combination.
Bera misses the shot to the body.

Bera feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Hinch looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Hinch keeping moving, preventing Bera from controlling successfully.
Bera is really struggling to control Hinch but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Hinch tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Bera trying to control the position from guard on top but Hinch is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Matt Bera wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Bera displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hinch.

Hinch moves into the clinch.
Bera misses with a punch on the inside.
Bera tries to work over Hinch's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Hinch is working for takedown but Bera is calmly controlling the position for now.
Bera pushes Hinch back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Bera here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Hinch blocks a body shot from Bera.
Bera lands with a right to the head.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Bera tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Bera is pressed up against the cage. Hinch has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Bera down to the mat. Bera avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Matt Bera has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Stevie Hinch.
Hinch takes a jab right on the kisser.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bera connects with an inside leg kick.
Hinch is breathing heavily.
Bera rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hinch moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Hinch shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Bera pinned against the cage. Bera gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Bera lands a nice looking body shot.
Hinch takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.


It looks like Stevie Hinch has been cut.
Bera misses with a two punch combination.
Hinch shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Bera as he jumps to the side.
A solid body kick from Bera.
Bera is really turning it up, unleashing another crisp combination which drops Hinch like a ton of bricks! The referee dives in to stop the fight, saving Hinch from another fist facial!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Matt Bera!
Matt Bera retains his heavyweight title!
