The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Damien Edna and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thomas misses with an attempted mid kick.
Putra misses with a takedown attempt
and Thomas counters with a solid body kick.
Putra shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Thomas's guard.
Thomas controlling the position.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Thomas is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Putra stays in close to Thomas's body and controls the position.
Thomas looking for a guillotine here but Putra defends easily.
Putra trying to control the position from guard on top but Thomas is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Putra gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Thomas counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Putra!

Thomas is working for a guillotine from mount but Putra frees his head quite easily.
Thomas wants to finish this one by submission but Putra is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Thomas.
Thomas controlling the pace for now.
Putra is in all sorts of trouble here.
Thomas trying to control but Putra is having none of it.
Thomas takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Putra really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Thomas looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Putra wants to control but Thomas is having none of it.
Putra is trying to escape the mount.
Putra is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Thomas has control of Putra's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Putra regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Thomas looking to control but Putra is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Putra tries to hold on but Thomas pushes him away.
Thomas won't let Putra get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Thomas is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Thomas!
