PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Master Chuin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zak Zinfandel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Chuin might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Remo WIlliams Theme. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Master Chuin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Zak Zinfandel!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Robert Douchet and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chuin avoids the body shot from Zinfandel.
Chuin looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Chuin fails in his attempt to clinch.
Zinfandel misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Chuin shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Chuin wants to control from the top but Zinfandel keeps moving.
Chuin trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Chuin is looking to pass into half guard but Zinfandel pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Zinfandel is in guard.

Zinfandel decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Chuin manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Zinfandel on his heels. He'll look to pass Zinfandel's guard now, I'm sure.

Chuin prevents Zinfandel from getting back to his feet.
Zinfandel can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Chuin controls the pace.
Zinfandel is looking to stand up but Chuin isn't so interested in that idea.
Chuin looking to sit in guard and control but Zinfandel gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Chuin is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Zinfandel is doing well to control the position and prevent Chuin from advancing to side control.

Chuin is working for a kimura but Zinfandel is defending it quite comfortably.
Zinfandel is controlling Chuin's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Chuin seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Zinfandel does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Chuin wants to free his trapped foot but Zinfandel is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Chuin is keen to just control but Zinfandel is a slippery customer.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Master Chuin dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Master Chuin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Chuin shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Zinfandel but Zinfandel pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Zinfandel lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Chuin backs up against the cage.
Zinfandel throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Chuin.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Chuin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Zinfandel swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Chuin wants to control from the top but Zinfandel keeps moving.
Zinfandel bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Chuin's guard.
Zinfandel must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Chuin looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Zinfandel has picked Chuin up and slammed him! Chuin can't keep hold of the triangle and Zinfandel manages to pass to side control!
Chuin tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Zinfandel wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Chuin is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Chuin is looking to improve his position but Zinfandel isn't that keen on the idea.
Chuin wants to hold on but Zinfandel pushes him away.
Zinfandel prevents Chuin from getting the reversal.
Zinfandel tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Chuin is looking to get to half guard.

Master Chuin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Zinfandel content just to control the position here.

That was a close second round but I would say that Master Chuin will probably get the nod.

Chuin looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Zinfandel is fending him off so far but Chuin persists. Nope, Zinfandel circles away and we're back to standing.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

I would just about give that final round to Zak Zinfandel.
