PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Archibald Tuttle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stran Gler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tuttle kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is RAWR. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Archibald Tuttle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Stran Gler!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Russell Pearce and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tuttle moves in looking to clinch but Gler pushes him off.
That kick from Tuttle tenderised Gler's leg. Gler is trying to keep his angry face on.
Gler takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Gler shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Tuttle but Tuttle pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Tuttle tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Gler misses with a takedown
and Tuttle connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.


It looks like Stran Gler has been cut.
Archibald Tuttle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tuttle throws a head kick that misses.
Gler looks for a takedown but Tuttle sprawls well.
Archibald Tuttle has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Stran Gler.

Tuttle clinches.

Tuttle jumps guard and drags Gler to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Tuttle is pulling down on Gler's head. It's preventing any offense from Gler, at least for the moment.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gler postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Gler must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Gler postures up in Tuttle's guard and throws a big left but Tuttle blocks it.

Tuttle pushes Gler off and scrambles back to his feet.
Gler shoots in but no luck this time.
Tuttle finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Gler shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Gler showed some decent athleticism there.
Tuttle is looking for a sweep. Gler is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gler is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Tuttle reverses the position - he's now on top in Gler's guard.

Gler has his foot on Tuttle's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Tuttle works his way back into a safe position though.
Tuttle wants to control from the top but Gler keeps moving.
Tuttle controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gler can't keep his opponent in guard - Tuttle advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Gler flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Tuttle wants to work for an arm triangle but Gler is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Gler is trying to get back to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tuttle stalling.
Gler moves into full guard.
Tuttle preventing the sweep.
Tuttle trying to stand up but can't free himself from Gler's guard.
Gler keeping moving, preventing Tuttle from controlling successfully.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Tuttle tries to stand but Gler is controlling from the bottom.

Gler had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Tuttle defends it easily.

Gler is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Tuttle decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Gler, up you get!
Tuttle tries to clinch there but Gler circles away.
Tuttle tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gler paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Tuttle throws a sloppy head kick and Gler moves out of range easily.
Tuttle is looking to clinch.
Gler throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Tuttle's waist but Tuttle gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gler off to one side.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Tuttle throws a nice inside leg kick.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Tuttle pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gler.

Gler gets caught flat footed, as Tuttle shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Stran Gler's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Tuttle stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Tuttle wants it to stay on the feet.
Tuttle pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Horrible takedown by Gler or perhaps it was just good defense by Tuttle which made him look bad.
Gler has his takedown stuffed
and Gler takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Archibald Tuttle has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Stran Gler.
Gler tries for a takedown but Tuttle sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Tuttle lands a head kick. Gler smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Tuttle moves in looking to clinch but Gler pushes him off.
Tuttle tries to clinch up but Gler circles away and keeps his distance.

Tuttle shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Archibald Tuttle overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Tuttle wants to control but Gler is keeping him busy.
Tuttle prevents Gler from improving his position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Tuttle decides to stand and escape the position.

Tuttle fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Gler has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Tuttle throws a sloppy head kick and Gler moves out of range easily.
Tuttle tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Gler counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Tuttle's guard now.
Tuttle pulls Gler in to control the position.
Gler trying to control the position from guard on top but Tuttle is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Tuttle is trying to keep Gler in close.

Archibald Tuttle has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Tuttle tries to clinch up.
Tuttle tries to clinch but Gler moves out of range.

Tuttle changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Gler looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Tuttle has managed to clinch.
Tuttle creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

Gler wants to control from the top but Tuttle keeps moving.
Gler trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Tuttle wants to get back to his feet but Gler is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Gler not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Tuttle is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Gler shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Tuttle as he jumps to the side.

and Gler decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Tuttle's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Tuttle is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Gler wants to control from the top but Tuttle keeps moving.
Gler won't allow Tuttle to get back to his feet.
Tuttle not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Gler prevents Tuttle from getting back to his feet.

Gler tries to free his leg and advance position but Tuttle is retaining full guard.

Gler is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Tuttle is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Tuttle has escaped and now he's on top!

Gler working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Tuttle doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Tuttle manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Tuttle is looking to take a break and control but Gler is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Gler gets caught napping as Tuttle dives in and scores a takedown. Gler manages to retain guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Tuttle accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Gler is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Tuttle defends well.

Tuttle stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Gler moves forwards but Tuttle connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Tuttle turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Tuttle closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Tuttle lands in his opponent's guard.

Gler is working an open guard so Tuttle takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Archibald Tuttle is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Tuttle wriggles free and stands up.

And that's the end of the fight!

Well Tuttle has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
