PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mario Fry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Beck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Beck has chosen Seek and Destroy as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Mario Fry has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Mario Fry seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mario Fry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, John Beck!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Micheangelo Fripello and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beck lands a nice hook to Fry's body. Fry takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Beck rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Fry moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Fry throws a lazy right hand but Beck sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Beck works over Fry's head and body with a nice combination.
Fry throws a nice outside leg kick.
Beck tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Fry paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Fry misses with a low kick.
A clash of legs there as Beck blocks the low kick.
Beck is looking to clinch but Fry is avoiding it.
A punch lands to the side of Fry 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Fry slips a straight right by Beck.
A chopping leg kick lands by Fry.
Beck misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Fry.
Beck stalks Fry and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Fry's face. Fry staggers backwards, shaken.

Beck clinches up with Fry and pushes him back against the cage.
Beck tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Fry smiles and moves away.
Beck avoids the head kick by Fry.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Beck lands with an uppercut that bounces Fry off the cage and back into range.
Fry slips under a jab from Beck.
Fry scores with a nice strike.


It looks like John Beck has been cut.
Fry lets loose with a powerful body kick. Beck will feel that in the morning.
Fry throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Beck looks winded!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Beck checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
That kick from Fry tenderised Beck's leg. Beck is trying to keep his angry face on.
Fry looks to throw the jab but Beck is out of range.
Fry scores with a sloppy right hand. Beck should have avoided that one.
Fry throws a sloppy head kick and Beck moves out of range easily.
A looping hook to the body misses from Fry. Beck does a little dance to reset his feet.
Beck throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Fry.
Fry keeps the fight on the outside.
Beck throws a right and a left that both miss.

Fry throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Beck keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Fry moves out of range of the strikes.
Fry takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Beck tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Fry manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Fry wants to land a leg kick but Beck is out of range.
Beck checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Beck throws a hook but Fry avoids it easily.
Beck takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Beck throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Fry throws a head kick that misses.
Fry misses with a low kick.
Beck lands with a shot to the body.
Fry tries to land a leg kick but Beck saw it coming and moves away.

Fry throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Fry throws a chopping leg kick but Beck manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Fry throws a nice outside leg kick.
A head kick misses from Fry.
An inside leg kick from Fry misses.
Fry misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Fry uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Beck.
Fry takes one to the side of the head.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Fry.
Fry throws a leg kick
and Beck counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Beck clinches up against the cage.
Fry throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Beck jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Fry walks away with a smile on his face. Beck gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Beck blocks a head kick by Fry.

Fry is looking to score with low kicks.
Fry pivots, looking for a leg kick but Beck is out of range and Fry settles back down.
Beck looks to land a right hand but Fry moved out of range.
Beck changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Beck keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Beck takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Fry pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Beck tries to move into range but Fry moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Beck looks to land a combination. Fry sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Fry is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Beck has Fry up against the cage in a clinch.
Beck tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Fry smiles and moves away.
Mario Fry has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Beck.
Fry lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mario Fry dominated that round.
The cut man is working on John Beck's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Fry looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

Beck throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Fry sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Fry buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Fry is looking to slow Beck down with leg kicks.
Fry throws a shot from downtown. Beck moves away and avoids it.
Fry lands a leg kick that knocks Beck off balance momentarily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Beck moves out of range of the leg kick from Fry.
Beck tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Fry throws out a loose jab but Beck uses good head movement to avoid it.

Beck is breathing heavily.
Beck walks forward, straight into a front kick from Fry.
Fry throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Fry turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Fry dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Beck. That did some damage!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Fry misses with an uppercut. Beck saw that one coming.
Beck takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Fry throws a sloppy head kick and Beck moves out of range easily.
Fry does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Beck tries to clinch up
and Fry counters with a leg kick.

Beck drives through and clinches with Fry against the cage.
Fry is trying to break the clinch but Beck has him pressed against the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Beck jumps guard but Fry stands there with Beck around his waist. Beck gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Beck's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Fry tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Fry looking to stall.
Fry is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Beck can do to turn this around?
Beck is trying to pull guard but Fry has him pressed against the cage.

Beck gets control of Fry's arms and successfully pulls guard. Beck will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fry throwing strikes but missing.
Fry tries to free his leg and advance position but Beck is retaining full guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Fry is looking to work some ground and pound but Beck has wrist control.
Fry has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Fry controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Fry wants to stand and escape but instead Beck has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Beck drops back looking for a leg! Fry is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Fry manages to kick Beck off! Beck jumps back into Fry's guard.

Beck thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Beck drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Beck jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Fry looking for a sweep. Not yet Fry, not yet.

Fry has his foot on Beck's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Beck works his way back into a safe position though.
Beck in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Fry looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Beck postures up.
Beck wants to control from the top but Fry keeps moving.
Beck stands and throws Fry's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Fry tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Beck presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Fry is in all sorts of trouble here.
Beck can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Fry is looking to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Beck misses the shot to the body.

Fry throws a low kick but it's checked well by Beck.
Beck has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Fry.
Fry connects with a solid leg kick.

Fry throws a head kick but Beck moves out of range.
Fry circles away from the clinch attempt

Beck takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Fry thumps Beck with a low kick.
Fry turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Fry scores with a kick to the midsection.
Fry goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Fry throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Beck connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Beck wants to clinch.
Beck tries to clinch but Fry is having none of it.

Beck moves in looking to clinch but Fry pushes him off.
Fry fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Beck manages to avoid it.
Beck takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Fry throws a leg kick but Beck checks it.
Fry moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Fry lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Beck has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Beck and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Beck steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Fry. That one must have hurt.
A slapping leg kick lands for Fry.
Fry thumps Beck with a low kick.
Fry scores with a crisp jab that stopped Beck in his tracks.


That has opened up John Beck's cut even more.
Beck fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Beck has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Fry.
Fry lands a nice leg kick that just misses Beck's sensitive parts.
Mario Fry is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Beck on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Fry feints and then cracks Beck's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Beck down.
Fry throws a half hearted mid kick.
Good leg kick by Fry there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Both fighters circling a little - Fry finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Beck blocks a head kick by Fry.
John Beck has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Fry throws a looping overhand right but Beck ducks down to avoid it.
Beck moves out of range of the body kick.
Beck tries to close the distance and clinch but Fry swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Fry lands a right hook to the body.
Beck jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Fry pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Beck shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Fry as he avoids it easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Fry keeps Beck at a distance using the push kick.
Fry cracks the inside of Beck's front leg.
A nice inside leg kick there by Fry. That's going to slow Beck down.
Fry scores with a spinning back kick!
A chopping leg kick lands by Fry.
Fry pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A clash of legs there as Beck blocks the low kick.
Fry throws a jab but it's blocked by Beck.
Fry finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Fry lands a head kick. Beck smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Beck lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Beck keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mario Fry showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Fry, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
