PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rick Mcintosh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josh Ferguson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rick Mcintosh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Josh Ferguson!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Chris Downing and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ferguson moves into range and clinches up with Mcintosh.

Mcintosh has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Ferguson is trying to keep an underhook but Mcintosh manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Mcintosh seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ferguson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Mcintosh stalling.

Mcintosh is just content to waste time from the top position. Ferguson takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Mcintosh wants to control from the top but Ferguson keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Rick Mcintosh.

Mcintosh is trying to pull guard but Ferguson has him pressed against the cage.
Mcintosh gets underhooks to prevent Ferguson's takedown attempt.
Ferguson wants to stall.
Ferguson tries to score a body lock takedown but Mcintosh shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Ferguson drops down looking for an ankle pick but Mcintosh pulls his leg out and moves away.

Mcintosh shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ferguson as he avoids it easily.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mcintosh wants to stand up but Ferguson is controlling him.

Ferguson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mcintosh has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ferguson has managed to get both his arms back between Mcintosh's legs - danger averted.
Ferguson is pushing down on Mcintosh's leg trying to pass to half guard. Mcintosh is fighting to maintain full guard but Ferguson has managed to sneak the leg through.

Mcintosh wants to improve his position but Ferguson is controlling well.

Mcintosh is concentrating on defense, preventing Ferguson from advancing position.
Ferguson moves nicely into side control.
Ferguson has knee on belly and moves into mount.

Ferguson lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Mcintosh hang on?

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Mcintosh keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Mcintosh is working hard here to advance position.
Mcintosh knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ferguson on the ground.
Ferguson tries to control but Mcintosh wriggling away.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mcintosh is just holding on here. Ferguson manages to take his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Josh Ferguson will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Ferguson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Mcintosh manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Ferguson gets to his feet. Mcintosh looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Mcintosh shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ferguson but Ferguson pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Ferguson throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Mcintosh tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Ferguson is in Mcintosh's guard.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Mcintosh is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ferguson is aware though and is defending well.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Mcintosh holds on and takes a little breather.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
No luck for Ferguson with that takedown attempt.

Ferguson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Mcintosh is trying to defend but Ferguson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Mcintosh is looking for a sweep. Ferguson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Mcintosh tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Ferguson presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Josh Ferguson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Mcintosh's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Ferguson is trying to drag Mcintosh to the mat but Mcintosh just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Mcintosh tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Ferguson is pressed up against the cage. Mcintosh has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Ferguson down to the mat. Ferguson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Mcintosh misses with a takedown attempt - Ferguson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Mcintosh is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Mcintosh shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ferguson as he jumps to the side.
Mcintosh tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Ferguson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Ferguson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Mcintosh circles away.
Mcintosh tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ferguson swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Ferguson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Mcintosh swivels and escapes.
Mcintosh tries a low kick but Ferguson avoids it.

Mcintosh gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Mcintosh shoots in for a takedown but Ferguson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

and Mcintosh counters with a nice leg kick.
Rick Mcintosh has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Josh Ferguson is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

I would just about give that final round to Josh Ferguson.
Well Ferguson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
