Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Levi James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Travis Lucas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Travis Lucas is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Levi James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Travis Lucas!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Reed Andrews and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as James checks a leg kick.
Lucas uses good head movement to avoid the hook from James.
James connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
James shoots in but no luck this time.
Lucas looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
James scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
James misses with a hook.
Lucas shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from James.

James gets a double leg takedown into Lucas's guard.
James is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lucas is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
James trying to control the position from guard on top but Lucas is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Lucas looking to hit a scissor sweep but James is one step ahead there.
Lucas is adopting a defensive guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Levi James wasn't doing enough on the ground.
James scoring well with a low kick there.
James ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Lucas moves away.
Lucas looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
James thows a body kick. Lucas tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Lucas avoids a kick to the body.
James has a takedown stuffed.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Levi James. That's going to take a lot out of him.
James tries to work over Lucas's front leg with a kick but Lucas checks it.
Levi James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

James throws a quick inside leg kick.
James avoids the body shot from Lucas.
Lucas moves out of range of the leg kick from James.
James has a takedown stuffed.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from James.
Lucas looks to land a right hand but James moved out of range.
James lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Lucas checks the leg kick nicely there.

James takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
James misses with a wild body shot.

James closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Lucas quickly recovers to half guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
James's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

That's time! James's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Lucas misses with a hook.
Lucas looks to score with a jab to the body but James is just out of range.

James has Lucas up against the cage in a clinch.
James tries a knee to the head but Lucas blocks it.
James has Lucas pushed against the cage.
Lucas lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
James digs a right hand into Lucas's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Lucas's gas tank.
Lucas on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Lucas's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

James manages to break the clinch.

Lucas thumps James with a low kick.
Lucas finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
James scores with a jab.
James missing with a left hand there. Lucas was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
James closes this distance looking for a takedown but Lucas circles away.

Lucas moves into range and clinches up with James.
James stalling the fight.
James pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
James tries for a takedown. No joy.
Lucas takes an elbow to the forehead.

Lucas stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from James.
Travis Lucas is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
James lands a jab to the head.
Lucas listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
A slow jab from Lucas misses its intended target.
James avoids the head kick by Lucas.
James throws a low kick but Lucas moves out of range easily.
Lucas throws a chopping leg kick but James manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Lucas paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Lucas lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Lucas throws a wild body kick that James sees coming a mile off.

James scores with a jab to the jaw.
Lucas lands with a thumping leg kick.
James misses with a low kick.
Lucas takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Lucas is looking to chop away at James's legs.
Lucas connects with a right hand. James shakes it off.
This has been an exciting period of action!
James with a poor takedown
and Lucas counters with a leg kick.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Levi James. That's going to take a lot out of him.
James tries a head kick but it misses.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lucas lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Lucas scores with a kick to the midsection.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Some bone on bone action there as James checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
James throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
James takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
James pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
James avoids the head kick by Lucas.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
James throws a right and a left that both miss.
Lucas lands with a good body shot.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Travis Lucas showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Lucas throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Lucas avoids the body shot from James.
Lucas throws a leg kick that is checked
and James counters with a lovely shot to the body.
James lands with a kick to the temple. Lucas shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"


It looks like Travis Lucas has been cut.
Lucas scores with a head kick.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
James throws a leg kick but Lucas sees it coming and moves out of range.
Lucas takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
James tried to score with a low kick but Lucas checks it.
James has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from James there as he acknowledges the shot.

James has managed to clinch.
Come on James - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Lucas using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Lucas lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
James is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Lucas gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
The referee is keeping an eye on Lucas - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
James can't get the takedown.
James is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Lucas is keeping busy.
Lucas lands a right hand.

James turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and James manages to end up in side control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Lucas tries to improve position but can't.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

James swings around for an armbar but Lucas sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into James's guard.

James has his foot on Lucas's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lucas works his way back into a safe position though.
Lucas slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Lucas wants to pass the guard but James is keeping the position.
Lucas wants to control from the top but James keeps moving.
Lucas wants to get up but he can't break James's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

James not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Travis Lucas wasn't active enough on the ground.
James misses with a left hand
and Lucas counters with an inside leg kick.
James thumps Lucas with a low kick.
James scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Lucas doesn't seem bothered though.
James throws a low kick but it's checked well by Lucas.
Travis Lucas seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Lucas avoids a kick to the body.
Lucas pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Lucas fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with James, pushing him back against the cage.

Lucas goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
James wants to break free but Lucas has control.
James doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Levi James.
