The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bear misses with a takedown attempt - Gaston sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Bear shoots in for a takedown but Gaston shows good takedown defense.
Bear wants to clinch up but Gaston keeps it at a distance.
Bear takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

It looks like Danny Bear has been cut.
Bear shoots for a double leg takedown but Gaston sprawls well. He's pushed Bear's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Danny Bear. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Gaston lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Bear up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Gaston from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Bear's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.
