The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gustafsson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Monteo fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Gustafsson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Monteo.
Monteo tries for a takedown but Gustafsson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Monteo throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gustafsson's waist but Gustafsson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Monteo off to one side.

Monteo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gustafsson is fending him off so far but Monteo persists. Nope, Gustafsson circles away and we're back to standing.
Monteo fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Gustafsson avoids it really well and circles away.

Gustafsson lands a left and a right that send Monteo crashing to the mat, dazed. Gustafsson thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Monteo is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Gustafsson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Gustafsson goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Gustafsson rushes Monteo with punches - Monteo moves straight backwards instead of circling and gets clipped by the second strike... and the third... and the fourth! Oh, Monteo goes down! Gustafsson follows up with more strikes and the ref steps in to end the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Alexander Gustafsson!
