PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Roger Rabbit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John McQueen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Roger Rabbit!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, John McQueen!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Dillan Fox and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McQueen wants to clinch up but Rabbit keeps it at a distance.
Roger Rabbit seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rabbit stuffs the takedown attempt from McQueen. McQueen gets slowly back to his feet.
Rabbit fakes a jab and throws a low kick but McQueen checks it well.
Rabbit tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
McQueen is looking to clinch but Rabbit is avoiding it.

and Rabbit counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for McQueen!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Rabbit trying to control but McQueen is having none of it.
McQueen is wriggling around trying to escape.

McQueen holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Rabbit tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Rabbit throwing strikes here but McQueen is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Rabbit tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
McQueen is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Rabbit landing strikes from the mount and McQueen is in trouble!
Rabbit prevents McQueen from getting the reversal.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rabbit punching from mount but McQueen doing a good job of avoiding damage.
McQueen is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Rabbit controlling from the full mount.
Rabbit lands a nice shot to the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Rabbit throws some wild stikes that McQueen manages to avoid easily.

McQueen is looking to improve his position but Rabbit isn't that keen on the idea.
Rabbit trying to control but he's not successful this time.
McQueen keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Rabbit avoids the attempt from McQueen to control.

Rabbit can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as McQueen is looking to escape.
McQueen slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Rabbit seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Roger Rabbit dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Rabbit gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and McQueen counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
McQueen slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Rabbit tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but McQueen wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
McQueen works to advance to full mount. Rabbit defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Roger Rabbit overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Rabbit prevents McQueen from taking his back.

McQueen moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Rabbit has worked his arm free - good work by Rabbit!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
You can see the frustration on Rabbit's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

McQueen working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

A control attempt from Rabbit but he's now mounted!
McQueen can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Rabbit is looking to escape.
McQueen prevents Rabbit from getting the reversal.
Rabbit on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Rabbit tries to get out of the position.
McQueen mounts Rabbit! Really nice guard pass there!
Rabbit tries to get back to half guard but can't.
McQueen unloads with some shots from mount but Rabbit bucks and avoids them well.

McQueen seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Rabbit is holding on tight.

McQueen goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Rabbit is on top in guard.
Rabbit trying to move into half guard but instead McQueen has managed to sweep!

Rabbit has control of McQueen's left arm, preventing McQueen from doing any damage.
Rabbit trying to keep a closed guard but McQueen is proving a slippery customer.
McQueen wants to control from the top but Rabbit keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Roger Rabbit.
Horrible takedown by McQueen or perhaps it was just good defense by Rabbit which made him look bad.
McQueen avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Rabbit scores with a jab.
Rabbit misses with a hook. McQueen ducked under it nicely.
McQueen has his takedown stuffed
and Rabbit counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Rabbit swings and misses with a hook to the body.

McQueen moves out of range of the strikes.
McQueen walks into a left hand.
Rabbit shoots in but no luck this time.
McQueen checks the leg kick.
McQueen avoids the body shot from Rabbit.
Rabbit pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

McQueen changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rabbit looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Rabbit can't do much from the bottom here.
Rabbit might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Rabbit managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by McQueen.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but John McQueen will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Rabbit's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



McQueen closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Rabbit to the mat! Rabbit manages to get full guard.
McQueen tries to free his leg and advance position but Rabbit is retaining full guard.

Rabbit is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
McQueen has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Rabbit after a bit of a struggle.

McQueen is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Rabbit is defending well.
Roger Rabbit has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John McQueen.
McQueen takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Rabbit is trying to control the position but McQueen postures up.
McQueen is pushing down on Rabbit's leg trying to pass to half guard. Rabbit is fighting to maintain full guard but McQueen has managed to sneak the leg through.

McQueen tries to pass to full mount but Rabbit defends it.
Rabbit is trying to maintain the position but McQueen is very close to passing his half guard.
McQueen perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Rabbit manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
McQueen wants to control but Rabbit is having none of it.
Rabbit thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

I would just about give that final round to John McQueen.
I think McQueen has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
