PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marcus J Whyte (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Benjamin Hill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hill has chosen Gungnam Style - Psy as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Marcus J Whyte!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Benjamin Hill!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Paul Aken and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hill keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Hill has his takedown stuffed
and Whyte counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Hill shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Hill stops Whyte from standing up.
Hill wants to control from the top but Whyte keeps moving.
Hill seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Whyte wants to stand up but Hill is controlling him.

Hill has gone for a leg lock! Whyte slips out almost immediately though and dives into Hill's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Whyte drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Whyte jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Whyte makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Hill really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Whyte. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Whyte wanted to stand there but Hill had control of the position.

We're going to have a standup here because Marcus J Whyte wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Hill shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Whyte as he avoids it easily.

Hill closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Whyte's guard.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Whyte is looking to stand up but Hill isn't so interested in that idea.

Whyte not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Hill wants to control from the top but Whyte keeps moving.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Hill dives in and grabs Whyte's left leg, looking for a takedown. Whyte pushes down on Hill's head and hops out.
Marcus J Whyte has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Benjamin Hill.
Horrible takedown by Whyte or perhaps it was just good defense by Hill which made him look bad.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hill fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Whyte avoids it really well and circles away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Whyte.
Hill looks to land a combination. Whyte sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Benjamin Hill will probably get the nod.

Whyte tries to clinch up.
Hill works over Whyte's head and body with a nice combination.
Whyte misses with a takedown attempt
and Hill counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Hill bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Whyte keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Hill moves in looking to clinch but Whyte pushes him off.
Hill throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Whyte's waist but Whyte gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hill off to one side.
Hill tries to clinch there but Whyte circles away.
Hill tries to bum rush Whyte with a series of wild strikes but Whyte uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Marcus J Whyte is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Hill clinches up with Whyte and pushes him back against the cage.

Hill turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Hill manages to end up in side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Hill decides to stand back up.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Hill forces Whyte back against the cage and clinches.
Whyte lands a right hand that snaps the head of Hill backwards.

Whyte jumps guard and drags Hill to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Whyte manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hill manages to get himself to full guard.

Hill is looking for a triangle but Whyte pushes his legs off easily.
Whyte with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Hill wants to sweep but no luck.

Hill has an active guard here but Whyte has managed to pass into half guard.
Whyte working over Hill with some ground and pound. Hill looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Whyte wants to control but Hill is keeping him busy.
Hill keeps control of the position for the meantime.

Hill is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Whyte scores with a couple of nice shots.
Whyte wants to take a breather but Hill is having none of it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Whyte prevents Hill from escaping the position.
Hill wants to control but Whyte postures up.
Whyte is chipping away with strikes.
Whyte looks up at the clock and then as Hill takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Whyte smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Whyte lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Whyte creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Whyte grinds an elbow into Hill's temple.

Whyte tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Whyte has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Hill is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Whyte's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Whyte is looking to advance position but Hill won't allow it.
Whyte is trying to control the action in half guard but Hill is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Hill wants to improve his position but Whyte is controlling well.

Hill makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Hill shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Marcus J Whyte has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Benjamin Hill.

Hill stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hill wants it to stay on the feet.

Hill scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hill goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Whyte has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Hill but great work by Whyte.

Whyte has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Hill tries to hold on but Whyte postures up.
Whyte pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Hill's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Benjamin Hill will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Whyte tries to score a power double leg takedown but Hill sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Whyte somewhat.

Hill manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Hill is pulling down on Whyte's head. It's preventing any offense from Whyte, at least for the moment.
Whyte forces his way into half guard.
Hill wants to control but Whyte is keeping busy.
Hill is staying active underneath Whyte, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Whyte prevents Hill from improving his position.

Whyte in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Hill tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Whyte!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Marcus J Whyte!
Marcus J Whyte was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
