PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hois Kreisi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Woima Karhu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kreisi comes to the cage accompanied by Ella ja Aleksi - Kakkaa lumella. Karhu is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by House of Pain - Jump Around. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Hois Kreisi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Woima Karhu!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Tarja Halkonen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karhu fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Kreisi has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Kreisi throws a leg kick but Karhu sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Kreisi connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Karhu fails in his attempt to clinch.
Karhu is looking to chop away at Kreisi's legs.
Karhu connects with a leg kick. Kreisi looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Kreisi dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Karhu. That did some damage!

Karhu drives through and clinches with Kreisi against the cage.
Kreisi tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Kreisi gets control of Karhu's arms and successfully pulls guard. Kreisi will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Woima Karhu hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Kreisi swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Karhu throws the kick towards the body but Kreisi avoids it.

Kreisi connects with a body shot that sends Karhu's belly button to the back.
Kreisi pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kreisi swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Karhu is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Karhu attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Kreisi tries to score a power double leg takedown but Karhu sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kreisi somewhat.

Kreisi throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

and Kreisi counters with an outside leg kick.

Karhu connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Kreisi stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Karhu.
The fighters circle momentarily. Karhu darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Kreisi loads up on a big right hand but Karhu slips the punch.
Kreisi is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Karhu.

Kreisi displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Karhu throws out the jab.

Karhu lands a leg kick that knocks Kreisi off balance momentarily.

and Kreisi counters with a low kick, right behind Karhu 's knee.

Kreisi is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Kreisi decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Karhu seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Kreisi postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Kreisi is pushing down on Karhu's leg trying to pass to half guard. Karhu is fighting to maintain full guard but Kreisi has managed to sneak the leg through.
Karhu wants to improve his position but Kreisi is controlling well.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Kreisi in particular looking to stall.
Kreisi is trying to control the action in half guard but Karhu is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Karhu ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kreisi moves away.
Kreisi shoots for a double leg takedown but Karhu sprawls well. He's pushed Kreisi's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Karhu feints and then cracks Kreisi's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Kreisi down.
The fight stays on the outside here - Karhu looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Kreisi blocks a jab.
Karhu takes a head kick and shrugs it off.


It looks like Woima Karhu has been cut.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Karhu.
Kreisi fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Karhu manages to avoid it.
Karhu takes a swing at Kreisi's ribcage but misses.
Kreisi slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Kreisi sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Karhu is working for a kimura but Kreisi is defending it quite comfortably.
Karhu moves into full mount! Kreisi won't be happy about that!

Woima Karhu is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Woima Karhu comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Karhu has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
