PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dom Diggity (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vladimir Smirnov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Smirnov's choice of entrance music: National Anthem Russia. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dom Diggity!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vladimir Smirnov!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Diggity closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Diggity wants to break the clinch but can't.
Diggity pushes Smirnov back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Smirnov turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Smirnov manages to end up in side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Diggity is being controlled here.
Smirnov misses with the ground and pound.
Smirnov in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Diggity is trying to improve his position.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Smirnov wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Diggity, who protects the arm well.
Smirnov sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Diggity is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Diggity knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Smirnov on the ground.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Diggity avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Smirnov.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Diggity tries to roll over but Smirnov keeps him under control.
Smirnov is controlling the pace.
Smirnov moves nicely into side control.

Smirnov lands an elbow.
Smirnov is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Smirnov advances nicely into full mount.
Diggity on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Diggity tries to get out of the position.
Smirnov lands a big shot there that rocks Diggity but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

It looks like Dom Diggity has been cut.
Diggity is bucking up trying to escape but Smirnov cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Smirnov controlling the pace for now.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
It looks like Smirnov might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Smirnov closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
A head punch on the inside from Diggity fails to land.
Diggity is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Smirnov is keeping busy.

Smirnov has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Diggity clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Smirnov connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Diggity to escape the position.

Dom Diggity's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.

Smirnov cracks Diggity with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Diggity from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.


Jeez, Dom Diggity's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Dom Diggity's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Vladimir Smirnov!
