PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Willie Davidson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Omori (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Paul Omori told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Willie Davidson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Paul Omori!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Omori fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Davidson to the ground. Omori is now in Davidson's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Omori missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Omori pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Davidson is keeping the position for now.
Omori passes into half guard.
Omori throwing shots but Davidson is blocking nicely.
Omori is looking to take a break and control but Davidson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Davidson misses with some strikes from the bottom.

Davidson is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Omori pulls his head out easily.
Davidson is trying to stand.
Davidson tries to roll over but Omori keeps him under control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Omori trying to mount his opponent but Davidson defends it.
Davidson trying to hold on to Omori's head to control him but Omori postures up.
Davidson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Davidson controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Omori stops Davidson from getting back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Omori escapes and gets back to his feet.
A bone on bone clash there as Omori blocks the leg kick.
A combination from Omori does no damage.
Davidson scores with a one two! Omori had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.


It looks like Paul Omori has been cut.
Davidson swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Omori counters with a head kick. That will keep Davidson thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Omori rushes Davidson and presses him up against the cage.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Omori is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Davidson taking a breather.

Omori breaks from the clinch.

Omori rushes Davidson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Davidson goes for a takedown attempt but Omori pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Davidson tries to clinch there but Omori circles away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Omori takes the fight into the clinch.
Davidson wants to get back to striking at distance but Omori won't allow it.
Davidson lands a right hand that snaps the head of Omori backwards.
Davidson goes for a takedown in the clinch but Omori prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Willie Davidson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Omori breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Omori fails with a takedown attempt.
Omori takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Davidson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Omori swivels and escapes.
Davidson misses with a wild combination.
Davidson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A chopping leg kick lands by Omori.
Davidson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Willie Davidson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Davidson is breathing heavily.
Davidson misses with a wild combination.
Davidson throws a left and a right that both miss

so Omori counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Omori is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Omori passes Davidson's left leg - he's now in half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Davidson pushes Omori off looking to stand but Omori dives back in and keeps control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paul Omori dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Paul Omori's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Davidson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Omori moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Omori is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Davidson.
Davidson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Davidson wants it to stay on the feet.
Omori shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Davidson as he avoids it easily.
Nice shot lands for Davidson.
Omori chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Omori throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Davidson misses with a two punch combination.
Davidson scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Omori tries to close the distance and clinch but Davidson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Davidson tries to bum rush Omori with a series of wild strikes but Omori uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Omori shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Davidson pinned against the cage. Davidson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Willie Davidson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paul Omori.
Davidson stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Omori is breathing heavily.

Davidson shoots in but no luck this time.

Omori scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Omori in side control lands a decent elbow.
Davidson tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Omori tries to advance to mount but Davidson denies him.
Davidson is looking to regain half guard here but Omori keeps moving and retains side control.
Davidson is pushing Omori's head away, looking to escape. Omori manages to hold on to the position though.

Omori is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Davidson looks calm but he's in trouble here. Omori gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Davidson is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Omori lets go of the hold and Davidson can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Paul Omori!
