Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ty Angle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jean Luc Picard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Picard has chosen The Picard Song as his entrance music. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ty Angle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jean Luc Picard!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Felipe Paraventi and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Angle changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Picard tries to avoid it but Angle manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Picard to the ground. Picard escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A jab lands there for Picard.
Picard throws a looping overhand right but Angle ducks down to avoid it.
Angle shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Picard defends it nicely.
Ty Angle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Angle takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Picard lands a nice hook to Angle's body. Angle takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Angle moves away from the strike by Picard.
No luck for Angle with that takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ty Angle. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Angle decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Picard's guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Angle drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Angle jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Picard has his foot on Angle's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Angle works his way back into a safe position though.

Angle wants to control from the top but Picard keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Picard is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Angle is aware though and is defending well.
Angle stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Picard swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Angle is looking to stand up but Picard won't let him.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Angle wants to pass the guard but Picard is keeping the position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Picard is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Angle drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Angle jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Angle postures up in Picard's guard and throws a big left but Picard blocks it.
Picard wants to sweep but no luck.
Picard is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Picard manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Angle manages to get himself to full guard.

Picard stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Angle swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Angle working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Picard doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Picard manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Angle is looking to control Picard's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Angle avoid being mounted?
Picard is figuring out what he wants to do next.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Picard is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Angle!

Angle has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Angle there as he acknowledges the shot.

Angle darts in and clinches Picard up against the cage.
Angle blocks a body shot from Picard.
Picard on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Angle is working for takedown but Picard is calmly controlling the position for now.
Angle is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Picard pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Picard is trying to slow the pace down but that's a couple of times in a row that he's tried to get underhooks and Angle has denied him.

Picard has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Angle uses from the top position.

Picard sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Angle's guard.
Picard wants to lay and pray for a moment but Angle keeps working.

Picard can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Angle is looking to escape.

Picard fails to move to back control.

Angle tries to improve his position but instead Picard has taken his back!
Angle is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Picard's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

Picard has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Angle has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Angle wants to escape the position.
Angle breaks Picard's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Angle is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Picard seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Jean Luc Picard showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Picard throws a lazy right hand but Angle sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Angle shoots in but Picard avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Angle takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Angle misses with a takedown attempt - Picard sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ty Angle. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Picard got a little sloppy there for a moment and Angle has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Picard has managed to get both his arms back between Angle's legs - danger averted.

Picard is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Angle is trying to escape and Picard transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Angle is forced to tap! Nice work there by Picard! Very nice indeed!
