PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bequembauer Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hui King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bequembauer Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hui King!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Alexandre Firmino and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging King to the ground. Silva is now in King's guard.

King is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Silva controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

King is looking for a triangle but Silva pushes his legs off easily.
Silva is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

King is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Silva has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Bequembauer Silva just wasn't active enough.

Silva shoots in and gets a takedown into King's guard.

King can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Silva controls the pace.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Silva throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. King tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Silva is in King's guard.

Silva got a little sloppy there for a moment and King has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Silva has managed to get both his arms back between King's legs - danger averted.
Silva slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
King is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Silva is aware though and is defending well.
King looks winded!

Silva avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Bequembauer Silva just wasn't active enough.

Silva closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. King quickly recovers to half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Silva's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Bequembauer Silva.

Silva seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down King for as long as he can get away with.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

We're going to have a standup here because Bequembauer Silva wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Silva knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for King on the ground.

Silva manages to get an easy takedown there - catching King on his heels. He'll look to pass King's guard now, I'm sure.
Silva slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

King is looking for a triangle but Silva pushes his legs off easily.
Silva not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

King is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Silva frees his head nicely. Oh but King has switched to an armbar! Silva is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
