Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lucas Samurai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, DeVonn Trout!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Matheus Silva and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Samurai scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Trout manages to work his way to half guard, despite Samurai's best efforts.

Trout has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Samurai is working away from the top position though.
Trout is looking to escape.

Samurai takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Samurai tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Samurai not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Samurai working over Trout with some ground and pound. Trout looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Samurai lands strikes from half guard.

Samurai takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Trout trying to control but Samurai postures up.

Samurai not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Samurai throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Trout to regain full guard.

Samurai throws a strike but Trout rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Samurai is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Trout happy to just control the position for now.
Samurai tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Samurai really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
BOOM! Trout connects with a massive shot to the dome!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lucas Samurai dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Samurai throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Trout was covering up waiting for the punch and Samurai finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Samurai loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Trout looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Trout is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Samurai has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Samurai wants to control from the top but Trout keeps moving.
Trout is trying to keep Samurai in close.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Samurai throws a right hand that Trout ducks under and follows up with a left that Trout also avoids with ease.

Samurai has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Trout works to full guard.
Trout is trying to control the position but Samurai postures up.
Samurai wants to stand and escape but instead Trout has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Samurai keeping moving, preventing Trout from controlling successfully.
Samurai on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Samurai tries to get out of the position.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Samurai looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by DeVonn Trout.

Samurai shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Samurai showed some decent athleticism there.
Samurai wants to stand but Trout has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Samurai looks to land a strike but Trout avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Trout keeping full guard, as Samurai tries to pass.
Trout tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Samurai postures up.
Samurai wants to pass the guard but Trout is keeping the position.
Samurai looking to sit in guard and control but Trout gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Trout trying to control the position from guard on top but Samurai is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by DeVonn Trout.

Samurai clinches up against the cage.

Samurai turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Samurai working the head and body with strikes.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Samurai lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Trout down.
Trout is breathing heavily.
Samurai landing strikes.
Samurai wants to control but Trout is keeping him busy.
Trout avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Samurai.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Trout is not content to let Samurai control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lucas Samurai dominated that second round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Samurai throws a leg kick
and Trout counters with a solid body kick.

Samurai shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Trout napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Samurai is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Trout can do to turn this around?

The ground and pound from Samurai seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Samurai is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Samurai seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Trout for as long as he can get away with.
Trout tries to buck Samurai off but Samurai is having none of it.
Trout takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Samurai lands a nice forearm strike.
Samurai lands some shots froms side control.
Samurai wants to control but Trout is keeping him busy.
Samurai scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Trout is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Samurai can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:34 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Lucas Samurai!
