Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joe West (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Vorhees (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). West comes to the cage accompanied by I'm so sick-Flyleaf. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

West drives through and clinches with Vorhees against the cage.

West breaks from the clinch.
A slapping leg kick lands for West.

West escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Vorhees tries to clinch but fails miserably

and West counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by West.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
West fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Vorhees avoids a kick to the body.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Vorhees tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but West swivels and escapes.
West throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Horrible takedown by West or perhaps it was just good defense by Vorhees which made him look bad.

Vorhees closes the distance and clinches up with West, looking for a takedown. Vorhees pushes West against the cage but West circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

West gets back to half guard.
Vorhees wants to free his trapped foot but West is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Vorhees doesn't succeed with the takedown

and West moves into the clinch.
West goes for a takedown attempt but Vorhees pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Joe West is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Joe West has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jason Vorhees.

and West counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Vorhees looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

and West counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Vorhees wants to improve his position but instead West has moved into half guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Vorhees tries to regain full guard. Instead though, West has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

Vorhees reaches up to try and control the position but West seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Vorhees rolls and tries to escape and now West has his back!
West trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.

West has the hooks in. Vorhees is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Vorhees really doesn't want to stay on the ground with West. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
West is punishing Vorhees with strikes - can he finish him?!
West keeps control of the position as Vorhees tries to break free.
Vorhees looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Vorhees rolls, trying to escape but West keeps control of the position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Vorhees is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
West keeps control of the position as Vorhees tries to break free.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
West gets his hands free as Vorhees looks to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

and West decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Vorhees's guard.

West is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

West drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and West jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Vorhees has control of West's left arm, preventing West from doing any damage.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Vorhees is wriggling around but West manages to pass to half guard.
Vorhees is trying to maintain the position but West is very close to passing his half guard.
West prevents Vorhees from standing back up.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Vorhees can do anything to dispel that myth.

West is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Vorhees has managed to free his arm - good work.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
West throws the left hand but Vorhees avoids the punch easily.

Vorhees is fighting off a takedown attempt but West is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Vorhees to the mat. Vorhees regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Vorhees isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. West stacks Vorhees on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by West!

West wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Vorhees, who protects the arm well.
Joe West overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Vorhees is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Joe West showed his dominance in that final round.
Well West has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
