The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cooley lands with a kick to the ribs.
Evance takes a kick to the side of the head.

Evance dives in and scores a takedown into Cooley's guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Cooley is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Cooley looking for a guillotine here but Evance defends easily.

Cooley working for a triangle but Evance defends it easily.
Evance keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Cooley's head.
Evance working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Evance slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Cooley looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Evance is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Evance lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Cooley thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Evance controlling from the top position.
Let's hope that Evance has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Cooley looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Evance has picked Cooley up and slammed him! Cooley can't keep hold of the triangle and Evance manages to pass to side control!
Evance controls the position.
Cooley is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Evance has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Evance lands a nice forearm strike.

Cooley on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Cooley wants to get back to his feet but Evance drags him back down.

Evance is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Cooley takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Evance scores with a couple of short elbows.

The referee asks Evance politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Evance prefers to stall for the moment though.

It looks like Brent Cooley has been cut.
Cooley takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Evance lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Evance connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Cooley some visible discomfort.
