And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Rafael!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Winston Howard and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De La Vega works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.


It looks like Jack Rafael has been cut.

De La Vega darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

De La Vega is trying to work for a kimura but Rafael is defending well.
Rafael controlling the position well.
De La Vega thows a huge punch but Rafael dodges it nicely.
Rafael trying to control but De La Vega postures up.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

De La Vega is looking for a kimura but Rafael is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for De La Vega to get the leverage.
Rafael is trying to control but De La Vega passes into side control!

De La Vega looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

That's one minute gone in the round.
De La Vega sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Rafael is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
De La Vega creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Rafael sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Rafael holds on to De La Vega's head and controls the position momentarily.
Rafael is trying to control De La Vega's posture but De La Vega avoids it.

De La Vega wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Rafael, who protects the arm well.
Rafael tries to bench press De La Vega off him but De La Vega keeps the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
De La Vega has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Rafael!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rafael is wriggling around trying to escape.
De La Vega dominating with strikes here.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
De La Vega avoids the attempt from Rafael to control.
De La Vega lands a big elbow - Rafael is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Rafael is forced to tap out!
