PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Tomasino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Heckli Koch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tomasino comes to the cage accompanied by Roy Jones Jr - U know my kind. Koch has chosen Kamikaze as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tommy Tomasino!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Heckli Koch!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Daniel Blasius and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tomasino changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Koch looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Koch is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Tomasino asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Tomasino wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Koch, who protects the arm well.

Tomasino goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Koch rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Tomasino's guard! Nice work there by Koch!

Koch decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Tomasino, up you get!

OK we're going to have a standup here. Heckli Koch hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Tomasino creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Koch sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Tomasino is trying to get an arm triangle but Koch is defending well.
Koch is trying to control Tomasino's posture but Tomasino avoids it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Tomasino tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Koch is not content to let Tomasino control the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


A head kick from Tomasino lands but Koch takes it in his stride.
Tomasino fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Koch avoids it really well and circles away.
Tomasino shoots in and drives through. Koch sprawls well.
Tomasino blocks a head kick by Koch.
Tomasino takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Koch lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Tomasino circles away quickly and effectively.
Koch leaves Tomasino with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tommy Tomasino. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Tomasino walks into a stiff left hand from Koch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Tomasino shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Tomasino showed some decent athleticism there.

It looks like Tomasino is going to stand back up.
Tommy Tomasino overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Koch takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Tommy Tomasino.
I think Tomasino has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
