Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Miguel Berrao!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Michael Jefferson!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Yuuki Gou and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Berrao misses with a takedown attempt - Jefferson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Jefferson throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Berrao counters with a straight right hand.
Miguel Berrao seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Jefferson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Jefferson showed some decent athleticism there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Berrao looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Jefferson thows a huge punch but Berrao dodges it nicely.
Jefferson is pressing down on Berrao's thigh, looking to free his foot. Berrao is holding on for now.
Berrao is looking for a sweep. Jefferson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Jefferson missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Berrao is not content to let Jefferson control the position.
Jefferson passes into side control, despite Berrao's attempt to control the position.
The ground and pound from Jefferson seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Jefferson misses with the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Berrao is not content to let Jefferson control the position.

Jefferson has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Berrao looks to throw the jab but Jefferson is out of range.
Berrao tries to score a power double leg takedown but Jefferson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Berrao somewhat.
Berrao throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Jefferson counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Berrao managing to control the position.
Jefferson tries to free his leg and advance position but Berrao is retaining full guard.

Jefferson is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Berrao has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Jefferson is looking to defend but Berrao has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Jefferson! Berrao pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Jefferson taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Miguel Berrao!
After winning the bout, Miguel Berrao thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
