The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Young lands with a nice combination. Melendez backs away looking to recover.
Melendez shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Young as he avoids it easily.

Young throws a series of punches but Melendez moves out of range.
Young uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Melendez shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Young sprawls well. Young wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Melendez gets slowly back to his feet.

Melendez shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Young napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Melendez looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
