Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Max Power!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bronson Hodge!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Damien Edna and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Power tries to clinch but Hodge moves out of range.
Power swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Hodge counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Power looking for a sweep. Not yet Power, not yet.
Hodge controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Power tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Hodge slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Hodge trying to control but Power is working from the bottom.
Power might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Bronson Hodge hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Power bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hodge tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Power wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Power wants to take a breather but Hodge manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Power.
Hodge has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Power doesn't defend quickly enough and Hodge has managed to lock this one up! Can Power escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Hodge on a fantastic submission victory.
