Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chad Griggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ronnie Putnam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Putnam has chosen tap out as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Chad Griggs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ronnie Putnam!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Nard Betker and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Putnam misses with a takedown attempt - Griggs sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Griggs has his takedown stuffed
and Putnam counters with a good low kick that Griggs was not able to check.
No luck for Putnam with that takedown attempt.

Griggs drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Putnam takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Putnam tries to bench press Griggs off him but Griggs keeps the position.
Putnam tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Griggs sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Putnam wants to hold on but Griggs pushes him away.
Putnam tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Griggs knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Putnam on the ground.
Griggs cracks Putnam with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Griggs controlling from the full mount.
Griggs tries to control but Putnam wriggling away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Griggs throwing strikes but Putnam bucks up and reverses the position. He's now in guard on top.
Griggs pulls Putnam in to control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Griggs wants to improve his position but instead Putnam has moved into half guard.
Griggs is controlling Putnam's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Griggs is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Putnam is looking to take a break and control but Griggs is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Griggs is concentrating on defense, preventing Putnam from advancing position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Griggs is not content to let Putnam control the position.
Griggs manages to get to full guard.
Griggs working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Putnam.
Griggs is controlling Putnam's posture.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Putnam gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Griggs stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Putnam swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Griggs throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Putnam works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Putnam wants to stand up but Griggs is controlling him.
Griggs trying to control the position from guard on top but Putnam is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Griggs advances position into side control!
Griggs is chipping away with strikes.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Griggs scores with punches from side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Putnam can't do much from the bottom here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chad Griggs dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Griggs fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Putnam shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Griggs closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Putnam did well to prevent Griggs getting side control.
Chad Griggs overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Griggs looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Griggs wants to control but Putnam is keeping him busy.

Putnam looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Griggs is taking a breather. Putnam says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Griggs wants to pass the guard but Putnam is defending well.
Putnam is in trouble now - Griggs has advanced to mount!
Putnam is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Griggs breaks from Putnam's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Griggs landing punches.

Griggs landing strikes from the mount.
Putnam is wriggling around trying to escape.
Griggs is landing with some decent strikes but Putnam is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Griggs cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Griggs looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Putnam tries to reverse the position but Griggs maintains control.
Griggs raining down shots from the mount!
Griggs connects with a couple of good shots from mount.


Putnam is rocked!

Putnam can't escape the position.
Putnam wants to control but Griggs is having none of it.
Griggs in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Griggs working the ground and pound effectively.
Griggs pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Putnam is still in real trouble! Can Griggs finish him?
Putnam is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Griggs content just to control the position here.

A big strike lands for Griggs! That's really hurt Putnam and he's turned his back - Griggs keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Griggs jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
