Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Respek Mee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yoshihiro Akiyama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Respek Mee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yoshihiro Akiyama!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mee clobbers Akiyama with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Akiyama shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Mee counters with a good low kick that Akiyama was not able to check.
Akiyama takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Mee leaves Akiyama with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Mee turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Mee lands with a shot to the body.
Akiyama dives in and grabs Mee's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mee pushes down on Akiyama's head and hops out.
Respek Mee has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yoshihiro Akiyama.
Akiyama fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Yoshihiro Akiyama seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Akiyama throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mee's waist but Mee gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Akiyama off to one side.

Akiyama fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Mee lands with a straight right. Akiyama didn't see that one coming.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Mee. Akiyama shrugs it off though.
Akiyama looks winded!

Mee throws a leg kick which misses Akiyama's front leg but catches the back leg as Akiyama tries to avoid it.
Mee tries a head kick but it misses.

Mee ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Akiyama is trying desperately to land a takedown but Mee is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Akiyama.

Mee throws a quick inside leg kick.
Mee throws a front kick that sends Akiyama stumbling back into the cage.
A jab from Mee finds it's way through Akiyama's defenses.
A nice inside leg kick there by Mee. That's going to slow Akiyama down.
Mee connects with a crisp jab.
Akiyama walks into a stiff left hand from Mee.
Mee catches Akiyama with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Good leg kick by Mee there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Mee fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Akiyama.

Akiyama on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Mee. Mee obviously looking to wear him down.
That kick from Mee tenderised Akiyama's leg. Akiyama is trying to keep his angry face on.
Akiyama shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Mee thuds his shin into the meat of Akiyama's side.
Mee is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Mee lands with a slapping head kick.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Akiyama takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Mee lands the left hand.
Mee scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Mee thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Akiyama if he has to take too many more of those.

Akiyama's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Akiyama takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Akiyama has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Mee.
Mee feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Akiyamas jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Akiyama shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mee defends it nicely.
Akiyama takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Akiyama takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Mee throws a leg kick which misses Akiyama's front leg but catches the back leg as Akiyama tries to avoid it.
Mee moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Akiyama doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

It looks like Yoshihiro Akiyama has been cut.

Mee uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Akiyama has time to react.

Mee scores with a one two! Akiyama had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Akiyama chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Mee can pounce on him.
Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with eachother but Akiyama might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, Mee has got the better of the exchanges.
