Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jamison McGowen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dante Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think McGowen might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Tomoyasu Hotei - Battle Without Honor Or Humanity. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice body kick from Smith.
Smith misses with a low kick as McGowen jumps back.
Smith lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

McGowen attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

McGowen drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Smith dives on top into guard.

McGowen bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Smith's guard.

Smith utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Smith is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
McGowen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

McGowen thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Smith is trying to control the position but McGowen postures up.
McGowen won't allow Smith to sweep him here.

McGowen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smith swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McGowen has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Smith can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Smith looking to sit in guard and control but McGowen gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
McGowen throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Smith works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

It looks like Dante Smith has been cut.
Jamison McGowen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That kick from Smith tenderised McGowen's leg. McGowen is trying to keep his angry face on.
McGowen misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
McGowen shoots for a double leg takedown but Smith sprawls well. He's pushed McGowen's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Smith thumps McGowen with a low kick.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Smith.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from McGowen.

Dante Smith is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

McGowen takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
McGowen lands with a thumping leg kick.

Smith has momentary wrist control but McGowen slips an elbow through the middle.

Smith takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
The strikes coming from McGowen are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Smith tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but McGowen wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

McGowen goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Smith rolls with the submission and now he's on top in McGowen's guard! Nice work there by Smith!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McGowen has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Smith doesn't defend quickly enough and McGowen has managed to lock this one up! Can Smith escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to McGowen on a fantastic submission victory.
