Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ikaika Paulo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Willie Everride (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ikaika Paulo looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ikaika Paulo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Willie Everride!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Jeff Smith and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Everride avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Paulo looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Paulo shoots and misses

and Everride counters by moving into the clinch.

Everride escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Paulo fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Everride feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Everride sitting in guard here, content to control.

Everride is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Everride is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Paulo has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

We're going to have a standup here because Ikaika Paulo wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Everride rushes Paulo and presses him up against the cage.

Everride has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Paulo clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Everride is looking for the choke from the back position but Paulo is controlling his hands well.

Paulo rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Willie Everride hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Paulo fails with the takedown.

Paulo tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Everride manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Everride wants to get back to his feet but Paulo is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Everride has control of Paulo's left arm, preventing Paulo from doing any damage.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Everride bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Paulo's guard.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Paulo wants to sweep here but Everride controlling him for the moment.

and Everride counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Paulo!

Everride looking to control but Paulo is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Everride in particular looking to stall.
Paulo is trying to stand.
Paulo is trying to maintain the position but Everride is very close to passing his half guard.
Everride tries to pass the half guard into mount. Paulo knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Everride is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ikaika Paulo wasn't doing enough on the ground.
A right-left combo lands from Everride.
Everride dives in and grabs Paulo's left leg, looking for a takedown. Paulo pushes down on Everride's head and hops out.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Everride.
Ikaika Paulo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Willie Everride.
Paulo changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Everride tries to avoid it but Paulo manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Everride to the ground. Everride escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Paulo comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Everride throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Paulo counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Willie Everride showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Paulo misses with a takedown

and Everride moves into the clinch.

Everride lands a takedown into guard.
Everride wants to stand but Paulo is controlling his posture from full guard.
Everride engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Everride throwing strikes but missing.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Everride controlling from the top position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Ikaika Paulo.

Paulo gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Everride won't allow Paulo to get back to his feet.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Everride wants to control from the top but Paulo keeps moving.

Paulo throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Everride's waist but Everride gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Paulo off to one side.

Paulo wants to break free but Everride has control.

Paulo is fighting off a takedown attempt but Everride is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Paulo to the mat. Paulo regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Everride stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Everride shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Paulo is trying to defend but Everride finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Well Everride has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
