PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Denis Turk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam Brennan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Denis Turk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Adam Brennan!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turk ducks right into an uppercut from Brennan.
Turk closes the distance and clinches up with Brennan, looking for a takedown. Turk pushes Brennan against the cage but Brennan circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Brennan throws a series of punches but Turk avoids them all with ease.
Turk fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Turk defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Brennan.
Horrible takedown by Turk or perhaps it was just good defense by Brennan which made him look bad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Denis Turk. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nice takedown defense from Brennan. No joy for Turk on that attempt.
Turk fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Brennan misses with a takedown attempt - Turk sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Brennan throws a right and a left that both miss.
Turk wants to clinch.
Turk shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Brennan as he jumps to the side.
Turk is breathing heavily.

Turk shoots in for a double leg but Brennan sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Brennan fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Brennan fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Turk sprawls well initially but Brennan persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Turk actively working from the bottom here.

Turk looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Turk is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Brennan pulls his head out easily.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Brennan working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Brennan drops an elbow to the side of Turk's head.

Turk actively working from the bottom here.
Brennan is keen to just control but Turk is a slippery customer.
Brennan slips a nice elbow through Turk's hands, connecting with Turk's forehead.

Turk looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Brennan looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Brennan trying to pass the guard but Turk defending well.

Turk looking for submissions off his back.
Brennan looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

It looks like Brennan might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Brennan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Turk. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Brennan works his foot free and advances to mount.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Brennan sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Turk tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Turk is working hard here to advance position.
Brennan lands a big elbow.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Turk is looking to improve his position but Brennan isn't that keen on the idea.
Brennan lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Turk hang on?
Turk is in all sorts of trouble here.

Brennan wants to finish this one by submission but Turk is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Brennan.
Turk keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Turk slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Turk is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Brennan pulls his head out easily.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Adam Brennan dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Brennan fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Turk checks it well.
Brennan fails with a takedown attempt.
Turk has his takedown stuffed

and Brennan counters with a single leg into guard. Turk didn't expect that.

Brennan decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Turk, up you get!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Brennan enables Turk to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Brennan manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Turk in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Brennan trying to keep a closed guard but Turk is proving a slippery customer.

Turk drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Brennan dives on top into guard.
Brennan postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Turk has momentary wrist control but Brennan slips an elbow through the middle.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Turk is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Turk is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Brennan is aware though and is defending well.
Brennan scoring with punches to the head and body.

Turk is looking for a triangle but Brennan pushes his legs off easily.
Turk keeping full guard, as Brennan tries to pass.

Turk working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Brennan doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Brennan manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Turk has his foot on Brennan's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Brennan works his way back into a safe position though.
Adam Brennan has got the better of the ground game so far.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Turk had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Brennan defends it easily.

Turk is looking for a triangle here but Brennan uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Turk tries to improve position but can't.
Brennan tries to move to mount but Turk blocks the move with his legs.
Turk is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Brennan off and has taken his back!
You can see the frustration on Brennan's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Turk has got one arm under Brennan's chin. This could be trouble... Brennan trying to control the other hand but Turk gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Brennan has tapped out! The fight is over!
