Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Elijah Ursal!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, James Brown!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Paul Gruel and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brown tries a head kick but it misses.

Brown scores with a takedown into Ursal's guard.
Brown controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Brown really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ursal. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Ursal looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Brown would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Ursal not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Brown looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Brown must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

OK we're going to have a standup here. James Brown hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Left hook, right uppercut from Brown.
Ursal fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Sloppy strikes from Brown. Those never looked like landing.

Brown shoots in and gets a takedown into Ursal's guard.
Brown trying to control but Ursal is working from the bottom.
Brown's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Brown trying to control the position from guard on top but Ursal is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Brown engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

James Brown has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Brown drives through with a takedown into Ursal's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ursal keeping moving, preventing Brown from controlling successfully.

Brown looking to improve position, pressing down on Ursal's thigh with his hand. Ursal seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Brown paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Brown's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Ursal picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!
