PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shane Picker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sheldon Cooper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cooper has chosen star trek theme as his entrance music. Sheldon Cooper will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shane Picker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sheldon Cooper!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cooper plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!


It looks like Shane Picker has been cut.

Picker shoots in and bounces Cooper off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Cooper throws his legs up looking for a submission but Picker uses it to pass to side control.
Cooper tries to buck Picker off but Picker is having none of it.
Picker in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Cooper is looking for a sweep. Picker is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Picker winds up and cracks Cooper with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Cooper working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Picker doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Picker manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Cooper tries to hold on but Picker postures up.

Cooper shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Picker eats them both and turns towards Cooper to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Cooper tries to clinch up but Picker circles away and keeps his distance.

Picker throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Cooper tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Picker is in Cooper's guard.

Cooper had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Picker defends it easily.

Picker got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cooper has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Picker has managed to get both his arms back between Cooper's legs - danger averted.

Picker thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Cooper is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Picker is aware though and is defending well.

Cooper fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Picker, pushing him back against the ropes.
Picker tries to throw a body punch but Cooper avoids it by throwing Picker back against the ropes.
Picker wants a takedown.

Cooper has hold of one of Picker's legs. Picker is fighting the takedown attempt but Cooper gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Cooper sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Picker's guard.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Cooper in particular looking to stall.

That was a close second round but I would say that Shane Picker will probably get the nod.

Cooper throws a nice looking combination but Picker bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Cooper.
Nice takedown defense from Cooper. No joy for Picker on that attempt.

Cooper tries to close the distance and clinch but Picker swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shane Picker. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Cooper's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
