Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Forrest Gump (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gump comes to the cage accompanied by mama always said. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Forrest Gump!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rick James!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Wesley Smith and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gump throws a solid leg kick but James takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Gump.
James throws a head kick that looked like it stung.


It looks like Forrest Gump has been cut.
A jab from Gump finds it's way through James's defenses.
Gump lands with a hook. James tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Gump catches James with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
James buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gump lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
James is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
James keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Gump.
James throws a leg kick that is checked
and Gump counters with a thumping low kick.
James looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

Gump throws a leg kick but James moved away.
Rick James is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Gump on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Gump catches James with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
James wants to clinch.
James throws a head kick but Gump moves out of range.
Gump thuds his right hand into James's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
James tries to land a leg kick but Gump saw it coming and moves away.
Gump jabbing away but nothing is landing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gump goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.


It looks like Rick James has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Gump misses with a telegraphed body shot
and James counters with a slapping leg kick.
James on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Gump. Gump obviously looking to wear him down.
James moves out of range of the body kick.

James rushes Gump and presses him up against the cage.
James tries to stall but Gump uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
James with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
James has Gump pressed against the cage, preventing Gump from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
James goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
James lands a knee to the head.

James lands a nice elbow.
James misses with a hook from the clinch.

Gump lands a jab to James's midsection.
Gump looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
James blocks a head kick by Gump.

Gump looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for James!
James is looking for a sweep.

Gump looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
James tries to improve position but can't.
James wants to control but Gump postures up.
James is not content to let Gump control the position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
You can see the frustration on James's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Gump is looking to take a break and control but James is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Forrest Gump dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


James ducks under a wild hook from Gump.
Gump misses with a low kick.
James feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Gump's calf.
Gump swings and misses with a hook to the body.
James tries to clinch there but Gump circles away.
James takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
James checks a low kick from Gump.
Gump throws a head kick that misses.
James throws a lazy head kick

and Gump counters with a nice double leg into side control. James won't be happy with that.

Gump prevents James from escaping the position.
James is not content to let Gump control the position.
James is looking to regain half guard here but Gump keeps moving and retains side control.
James manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Gump is pressing down on James's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Gump has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

James controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
James must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Gump is controlling James's posture.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Forrest Gump.
James pulls out of a head kick attempt.
James slips a straight right by Gump.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gump shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Gump shoots in looking for a takedown. James tries to sprawl out of it but Gump keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. James manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
James lands a really nice looking cross but Gump seems unphased.
Gump misses with the combination.
Gump misses with a wild body shot.
Gump throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
James moves in looking to clinch but Gump pushes him off.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gump scores with a hook to the body. James takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
James digs a good body shot into Gump's ribs.
Gump is looking to chop away at James's legs.
James does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Gump misses with a body shot.
James looks to land a combination but Gump avoids it well.
Good work by Gump as he checks the leg kick.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
James misses with a two punch combination.
Gump tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but James was well out of range. Poor timing from Gump.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

James closes the distance and clinches.

Gump is looking to control James's arms but James gets an underhook and turns him. Now Gump has his back to the cage.

Gump is pushing James up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Gump wants to break free but James has control.
James throws a knee to the head but misses.
James using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Gump has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
James throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Gump blocks it with crossed arms.
Forrest Gump is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Rick James seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.
James throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Rick James comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
