The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Chan with that takedown attempt.

and Gomez counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Chan working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gomez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gomez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Chan postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Gomez is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Chan, into his guard.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Gomez shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Chan pinned against the cage. Chan gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Aron Chan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Chan tries to score a power double leg takedown but Gomez sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Chan somewhat.

Chan drops back, looking for a kneebar! Gomez looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Gomez looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Gomez!
