PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jack Fry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kyun-Chul Kim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jack Fry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kyun-Chul Kim!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Igor Prikhodko and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kim falls off balance throwing a combination
and Fry counters with a slapping leg kick.
Fry throws a leg kick but Kim checks it.
Kim misses with a looping left.
Kim thows a body shot but no joy.
Fry throws a head kick that misses.
Fry throws a leg kick but Kim moved away.
Kim avoids the head kick by Fry.
Fry has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Kim finds it's way round the side to connect with Fry's head.
Kim shoots in looking for a takedown. Fry tries to sprawl out of it but Kim keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Fry manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Kim fails with a takedown attempt.
A head kick misses from Fry.
Fry misses with a body shot.
Kim changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Fry tries to avoid it but Kim manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Fry to the ground. Fry escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jack Fry has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kyun-Chul Kim.

Nice body kick there by Fry.

Fry throws a head kick that misses.

Fry tries to land a front kick but Kim steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Fry makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Fry prevents a body shot from Kim.

Fry's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Fry gets tackled into the cage by Kim. Kim maintains the clinch.
Kim misses with a body punch.
Kim is trying to maintain a safe position but Fry gets an underhook and turns Kim into the cage.
Fry misses with an elbow over the top.

Fry stalling in the clinch but Kim improves position.
Fry scores a nice knee to the body.

A short body shot lands from Fry as the two fighters clinch.

Fry using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Kim has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Fry gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Fry is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Fry uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Kim.
Fry throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Fry tries to land a leg kick but Kim saw it coming and moves away.
Sloppy strikes from Fry. Those never looked like landing.
Fry throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Kim checks a leg kick.
Kyun-Chul Kim seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kim tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
The fight stays on the outside here - Kim looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Fry gets caught napping as Kim dives in and scores a takedown. Fry manages to retain guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kim postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Fry is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Kim, into his guard.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Kim looking to hit a scissor sweep but Fry is one step ahead there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
