PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Usain Watts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Sinatra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Watts comes into the arena with 9000 Watts blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 31 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Usain Watts!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 12 - 4, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Sinatra!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Wesley Smith and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Watts tries to clinch but Sinatra is having none of it.

Sinatra closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Sinatra lands in his opponent's guard.

Watts has his foot on Sinatra's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sinatra works his way back into a safe position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Watts is trying to control the position but Sinatra postures up.
Watts can't keep his opponent in guard - Sinatra advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Sinatra is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Sinatra looking to pass the guard.
Sinatra is fighting to break Watts's control of his arms but Watts is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Sinatra passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Sinatra works to advance to full mount. Watts defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Watts regains half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sinatra working the head and body with strikes.
Watts is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Sinatra lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Sinatra is looking to advance position but Watts won't allow it.
Watts wants to control but Sinatra is keeping busy.
Sinatra prevents Watts from improving his position.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Sinatra wants to free his trapped foot but Watts is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Watts is looking to improve his position.
Watts wants to sweep but Sinatra has passed to side control!
Watts takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Sinatra scores with a couple of short elbows.
Sinatra scores with punches from side control.


It looks like Usain Watts has been cut.
Watts is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Watts is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Sinatra wants to lay and pray for a moment but Watts keeps working.

Watts looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Sinatra is pressing down on Watts's thigh, looking to free his foot. Watts is holding on for now.
Watts trying to control but Sinatra postures up.
Watts makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Watts.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sinatra trying to control but Watts is working from the bottom.
Sinatra sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Watts's guard.
Watts moves into full guard.
Watts looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Sinatra puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Watts trying to control from the bottom.
Watts taking some punishment here, with Sinatra in his half guard.
Sinatra works his foot free and advances to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sinatra working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Sinatra with shots to the head and body - Watts looks very uncomfortable down there.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Watts tries to reverse the position but Sinatra maintains control.
Sinatra landing strikes from the mount.
Sinatra lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sinatra lands a big elbow - Watts is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Watts is forced to tap out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Frank Sinatra!
Frank Sinatra decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
