The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gatti III gets cracked with a nice right hand there by McIllhenny.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
McIllhenny takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

McIllhenny changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gatti III tries to avoid it but McIllhenny manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gatti III to the ground. Gatti III escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Gatti III's hands are dropping dangerously low here and McIllhenny connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Gatti III scrambles back to his feet.

and Gatti III counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Gatti III paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

McIllhenny takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
McIllhenny blocks a low kick nicely.
McIllhenny chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Gatti III can pounce on him.

McIllhenny takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Gatti III closes the distance and clinches.

Gatti III pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Gatti III displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as McIllhenny throws out the jab.

Gatti III throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

Gatti III shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Gatti III showed some decent athleticism there.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
McIllhenny is trying to stand up here but Gatti III is controlling him well.
McIllhenny keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
McIllhenny wants to get back to full guard.

and Gatti III counters with a head kick that drops McIllhenny to the mat! McIllhenny scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
BOOM! Gatti III lands a beautiful left hook that drops McIllhenny. McIllhenny tries to recover but Gatti III is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and McIllhenny lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!

A relieved looking Arturo Gatti III thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
