Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kyosti Persposki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ramsey Wood!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Arvi Lind and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wood shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Persposki fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Wood.
Wood closes the distance and clinches up with Persposki, looking for a takedown. Wood pushes Persposki against the cage but Persposki circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Kyosti Persposki has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ramsey Wood.
Wood tries to clinch there but Persposki circles away.
Wood shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Persposki as he jumps to the side.
Wood moves away from the strike by Persposki.
Wood circles away from the clinch attempt.

Persposki looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Wood!
Wood wants to hold on but Persposki pushes him away.
Wood regains half guard.
Persposki is breathing heavily.
The fighters are battling for position here. Wood manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Wood manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Persposki manages to get himself to full guard.

Wood postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Wood looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Wood really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Persposki. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Let's hope that Wood has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Wood passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Persposki managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Wood.
Sloppy strikes there by Wood.
Persposki wants to control but Wood postures up.

Wood is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Persposki knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Wood wants to stand but Persposki has his arm trapped.

Persposki sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Persposki moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wood wants to stand and escape but instead Persposki has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Persposki trying to control but Wood is working from the bottom.
Persposki slips nicely into half guard.

Wood moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Persposki wants to control from the top but Wood keeps moving.

Wood looking for a guillotine here but Persposki defends easily.
Wood is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Persposki is controlling him.

Wood not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Persposki won't allow Wood to sweep him here.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Persposki counters with a single leg into guard. Wood didn't expect that.

Wood is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Persposki passes into half guard.
Persposki could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Wood wants to control but Persposki is keeping busy.

Persposki is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Wood regains full guard. Nicely done.

That's seven minutes gone in the round.
Persposki trying to control the position from guard on top but Wood is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wood is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Wood tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Persposki trying to control but Wood is working from the bottom.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Wood looking for a sweep. Not yet Wood, not yet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Wood's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Wood duly obliges.
Persposki throws a body punch but Wood moves out of range.
Wood fails with the takedown.

Persposki decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Wood wants to get back to full guard.
Wood manages to get to full guard.
Persposki wants to control from the top but Wood keeps moving.

That's nine minutes gone in the round.
Persposki postures up.
Persposki stops Wood from standing up.
Persposki might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Wood is pulling down on Persposki's head to control his posture.
Wood is trying to control the position but Persposki postures up.

Wood had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Persposki is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Wood Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Persposki's back instead.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Wood doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Persposki counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Wood!
Wood wants to hold on but Persposki pushes him away.
Wood might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Persposki kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Wood keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Wood bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Persposki pulls Wood in close to prevent any damage.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Persposki has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Wood doesn't defend quickly enough and Persposki has managed to lock this one up! Can Wood escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Persposki on a fantastic submission victory.
