PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rick Waltz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sugar Ray Myers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Waltz might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Hitler Style- Adolf Hitler. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rick Waltz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sugar Ray Myers!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Winston Howard and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Waltz drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Waltz decides to stand back up. Waltz steps back and let's Myers get back to his feet.
The fight stays on the outside here - Myers looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Waltz stuffs the takedown.
Myers looks winded!

Waltz looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Waltz stalling.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Waltz stands up and beckons Myers to join him on the feet.
Myers swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Waltz closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Myers did well to prevent Waltz getting side control.
Waltz content to control rather than advance.

Waltz decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Myers.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Waltz shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Myers napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Waltz will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Waltz controls the position.
Waltz connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Myers some visible discomfort.
Myers being controlled for a moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Waltz works to advance to full mount. Myers defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Myers really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Waltz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Waltz raining down shots from the mount!
Waltz controlling the position easily from mount.
Waltz looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Waltz takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Myers is in a horrible position here. Waltz smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Waltz really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Waltz landing strikes, looking to finish!
Waltz looking to control and managing it successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Waltz has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Waltz pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rick Waltz dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Waltz rushes Myers and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Myers is trying to break the clinch but Waltz has him pressed against the cage.

Waltz escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Myers shoots in looking for a takedown but Waltz manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Myers's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Waltz has managed to clinch.
Waltz lands a body shot.
Nice body punch from Waltz - that landed with a thud.

Waltz gets control of Myers's arms and successfully pulls guard. Waltz will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Waltz manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Myers manages to get himself to full guard.
Waltz not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Myers trying to keep a closed guard but Waltz is proving a slippery customer.
Myers is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Waltz controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Waltz lands a couple of elbows.
Waltz controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Rick Waltz wasn't doing enough on the ground.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Myers enables Waltz to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Myers manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Waltz drops back looking for a leg! Myers is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Myers manages to kick Waltz off! Waltz jumps back into Myers's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Waltz is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Myers tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Waltz thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Waltz gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Waltz scores with a takedown into Myers's guard.

Waltz decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Waltz plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Waltz moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Myers tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Waltz sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Myers tries to sprawl but Waltz drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Waltz thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Myers's head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Waltz sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Myers defending well though.
Waltz has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Waltz has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Waltz in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Waltz cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Waltz postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Myers looks a forlorn figure.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Myers is working to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rick Waltz dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Myers is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Waltz throws a sloppy body shot

and Myers counters with a single leg into guard. Waltz didn't expect that.
Waltz is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Myers can do to turn this around?
Myers has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Waltz is proving hard to escape from.
Waltz is adopting a defensive guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Myers is looking to stand up but Waltz won't let him.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Waltz is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Myers has his hands clasped together but Waltz extends an breaks Myers's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Waltz.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:31 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Rick Waltz!
A relieved looking Rick Waltz thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
