PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ty Angle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bryan Fury (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ty Angle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bryan Fury!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Paulo Santos and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Angle closes the distance and clinches up with Fury, looking for a takedown. Angle pushes Fury against the cage but Fury circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Angle misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Angle!


It looks like Bryan Fury has been cut.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Angle.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ty Angle. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fury misses with a two punch combination.

Angle shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Fury is trying to defend but Angle finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fury won't allow Angle to pass to mount.

Fury misses with a looping left.
Angle avoids the body shot from Fury.

Angle throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Fury tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Angle is in Fury's guard.

Fury is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Angle is controlling him.
Fury keeping moving, preventing Angle from controlling successfully.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Ty Angle has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Angle on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Fury throws the left hand but Angle avoids the punch easily.
Fury leaves Angle with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Angle shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Fury sprawls well. Fury wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Angle gets slowly back to his feet.
Fury connects with a body shot that sends Angle's belly button to the back.
Fury lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Angle at a distance.
Bryan Fury is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Fury wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
The fighters circling - Fury throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Fury takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Fury lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Angle shoots in looking for a takedown but Fury manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Angle's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Fury misses with a head kick.
Angle closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Angle looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Fury just misses with a punch to the body.
Angle changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Fury tries to avoid it but Angle manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Fury to the ground. Fury escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Fury rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Angle moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Fury fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Angle looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Fury throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Angle on the side of the head.
Angle shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Fury as he avoids it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Bryan Fury will probably get the nod.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Fury swings for the body but Angle moves out of range.
Angle avoids the body shot from Fury.

Fury gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Angle to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Ty Angle overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Angle is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Fury tries to kick Angle off in order to stand up. Angle Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

Angle goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Fury has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Angle but great work by Fury.
Fury wants to stand but Angle has his arm trapped.

Fury decides to stand back up. Fury steps back and let's Angle get back to his feet.

Fury throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Fury stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Fury wants it to stay on the feet.
Fury fails to land with a series of punches.

Angle looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Fury pushes Angle off looking to stand but Angle dives back in and keeps control.
Angle is pressing down on Fury's thigh, looking to free his foot. Fury is holding on for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ty Angle will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Angle closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Fury did well to prevent Angle getting side control.
Fury scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Angle manages to mount him!

Angle goes for an armbar but Fury turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Fury.

Fury turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Angle gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Angle shoots in looking for a takedown but Fury manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Angle's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Angle shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Angle not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Fury pushes Angle off looking to stand but Angle dives back in and keeps control.
Fury takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Angle is working for a submission of some sort.

Angle is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Fury pushes Angle off and gets back to his feet.
Fury misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Fury throws a sloppy head kick and Angle moves out of range easily.
Fury looks to throw the jab but Angle is out of range.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Angle.

Angle shoots in but no luck this time.
Angle shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Fury as he avoids it easily.
Fury defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Angle.
Angle blocks a head kick by Fury.
Ty Angle is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Fury scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Angle doesn't seem bothered though.
Fury connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
A left and a right from Fury both land. Nice combination.
Angle gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Fury counters with a series of strikes. Angle will be more careful next time no doubt.
Fury takes a swing at Angle's ribcage but misses.
Angle will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Bryan Fury seems to be getting the better of the standup.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Fury tries a head kick but it misses.

Angle clinches with his opponent.
Angle goes for a takedown in the clinch but Fury prevents it.
Fury is trying to push Angle away but Angle has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Fury breaks the clinch.
Fury tests Angle's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Fury circles away from the clinch attempt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Angle takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Angle.

And that's the end of the fight!
Bryan Fury comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Fury has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
