Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Nevsky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Franz Weimar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Weimar comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Enter The Sandman by Metallica kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alexander Nevsky!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Franz Weimar!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Daniel Blasius and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Weimar defending well as Nevsky loads up on a big left hand.
Weimar gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Nevsky counters with a straight right hand.

Weimar shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Weimar working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Weimar wants to get up but he can't break Nevsky's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Weimar accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Weimar missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Weimar got a little sloppy there for a moment and Nevsky has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Weimar has managed to get both his arms back between Nevsky's legs - danger averted.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Weimar has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Nevsky postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Weimar uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Nevsky scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Nevsky is trying to control. Weimar wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Weimar is trying to stand.
Nevsky wants to free his trapped foot but Weimar is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Nevsky is looking for a kimura but Weimar is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Nevsky to get the leverage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Nevsky slips a nice elbow through Weimar's hands, connecting with Weimar's forehead.
Nevsky is nestled in close to Weimar, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Nevsky is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Nevsky stops Weimar from getting back to his feet.

Weimar pushes Nevsky off and gets back to his feet.
Nevsky swats away the attempt to clinch by Weimar.

and Nevsky counters with a nice double leg into side control. Weimar won't be happy with that.

Weimar wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Nevsky prevents Weimar from escaping the position.

Weimar gets caught napping as Nevsky dives in and scores a takedown. Weimar manages to retain guard.

Weimar is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Nevsky defends well.

Weimar tries to buck Nevsky off but he can't manage it.
Nevsky fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
